Active Supervision

Bringing younger climbers with you? Fantastic! We love to see families enjoying the space!

Please remember Frome Boulder Rooms isn't soft play. Climbing is a dangerous activity and every child needs constant, active supervision in line with our ratios. Please have a read of the points below so you know what 'active supervision' looks like in practice.

Supervision

Children under 16 should be directly supervised when climbing, or in the climbing areas.

This means being close to them, alert and ready to help them if they need you, and ensureing they are acting safely.

No jumping

Do not allow your young people to jump off the top of the structures in the kids area, or any of the walls in the main areas.

Encourage them to climb down safely using any holds.

Keep it slow!

Running is not allowed in the centre, especially on top of the structures in the kids area, and on the mats.

Please be careful and considerate of others, especially those who may be younger and smaller.

Support children to climb carefully

Support ('spot’) children if they require it when climbing.

Children should climb slowly and carefully — no timed races up or down the walls.

The slide

Climbing, walking and running up the slide is not permitted.

Climb up the left hand side and then slide down.

The ship

You can traverse (climb sideways instead of up) around the whole ship.

Please do not try and climb up and over the edge of the ship.

Checklist for supervisors

Watch the Induction Video and read through the safety information - We'll ask you a few questions about this on your first visit.

Check the supervision ratios to make sure you have enough adults for the number of children you intend to bring.

If you're bringing children, watch the Induction Video and discuss the safety information together before you come.

Complete an acknowledgement of risk form for yourself as an adult, and add on any minors that belong to you. You only need to do this once. If you're bringing someone else's child, their parent/guardian will need to do this for them.

After you've registered, you can just show up, check in, and get climbing!

House Rules

Our house rules are here to keep everyone safe and having fun on, and off, the walls.

Please take a moment to read through them before you climb as they cover the essentials every climber needs to know.
