FAQ'S

Before you visit and general climbing

Find answers to common questions about climbing at our centre.

  • Bouldering is climbing without ropes or harnesses, on shorter walls (ours go up to about 4.5m) with thick crash mats below to land on. The climbs are sometimes also called "problems" or "blocs" and are marked with coloured and numbered tags that denote the difficulty of the climb.

  • Not even a little bit!

As long as you've watched our safety induction video, read our house rules and filled out our acknowledgement of risk form you're good to go. Our team are always around if you need a hand finding your feet.

  • Not at all. We have plenty of climbing for beginners. If you can climb your stairs, you can get on the walls here!

  • Our walls go up to 4.5m, with the top of the walls in our kids area being a little smaller. In practice your feet are rarely more than 3m off the ground and you don't have to go to the top. Can it be scary? Yea, of course, but that's part of the fun! Our staff can teach you how to land safely if you're nervous.

  • For casual climbing in the main area, you just turn up. For the Kids Area, yes, and you can find more info on kids climbing HERE. For larger groups or parties, drop us an email at hello@fromeboulderrooms.co.uk and we will work with you on what you need and go from there.

  • Yes - supervising adults and spectators don't need to pay entry, though you will still need to complete our acknowledgement of risk form to enter the climbing areas.

  • Comfortable clothes you can move freely in. Layers are good as you'll warm up fast. Avoid anything too restrictive or anything loose enough it could catch on holds.

  • We strongly recommend them - they make a huge difference. You can hire a pair at reception, or bring your own if you have them. We stock a full range of sizes, from Kids 9 to Adults 14.

  • Helpful but not essential for your first visit. You can hire a chalk bag from us and if you want to purchase your own, we stock a large selection of chalk and chalk bags.

  • Bring a water bottle if you want (we have a refill station). Our café serves coffee, snacks, and food.

  • We love dogs, and welcome all well behaved and quiet pooches into the centre. We just ask that they stay off the mats, and on a lead.

  • Our off-peak hours are from opening until 4pm, Monday - Friday.
