The GridLock is a screwgate built for one job: belaying. A small internal wiregate traps your harness belay loop in the bottom of the carabiner, so it can't rotate round and end up cross-loaded however much you move about. It clips in quickly, sits in the right orientation every time and takes away one of the small things that can go wrong at the base of the route.
A horned spine keeps the belay device in place at the other end, and the screwgate sleeve locks it all shut.
