Symonds Yat (Wye Valley and Forest of Dean)

Lying towards the northern end of The Forest of Dean Symonds Yat perches high above a large meander of the River Wye and offers a collection of steep limestone buttress rising from from idyllic woodland.It is a very popular viewpoint attraction many tourists. Well featured rock with a good spread of routes across the grades ensures its continuing popularity. The climbing is characterful, some polished rock, bits of earthy rock (especially at the top of routes) and the occasional rattly hold all add to the sense of adventure. Between routes you can enjoy a snack at the ‘log cabin’ refreshments stall at the top of the crag!
