Schools and Education Providers

We deliver a range of sessions from one offs to weekly lessons.

Overview

We support three main types of group visit:

Weekly Sessions (inc GCSE & NICAS sessions) — for schools integrating climbing into their PE curriculum. Sessions can follow the NICAS framework (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme), mapping directly onto the GCSE PE practical specification and giving students a recognised accreditation alongside their studies.

Alternative provision — for students who thrive outside traditional classroom environments. Climbing has a way of reaching young people who've disengaged elsewhere, and we're experienced in working with groups who need more flexibility, patience or a different approach.

Enrichment & one-off visits — for reward trips, taster sessions or end-of-term activities. Fully led by the FBR team, adapted for mixed abilities, no experience needed.

How It Works & What to Expect

We work with you before the visit to understand your group, your goals and any practical requirements — ratios, risk assessments, accessibility or anything else. On the day, our team handles everything on the wall.

Climbing has a brilliant way of levelling the playing field. The quiet ones are sometimes fearless on the wall. The sporty ones discover that strength alone doesn't cut it. Students who've struggled to engage elsewhere often find something here that clicks — and the confidence they build tends to reach well beyond the session itself.

For schools or education providers committing to regular weekly visits, students can follow a structured progression through NICAS Levels 1–3, building genuine competence and a proper record of achievement over the course of a term or year.

What They'll Learn

Problem-solving — every route is a puzzle that rewards thinking as much as strength

Resilience — trying something hard, not getting it, and going again

Physical development — coordination, balance, spatial awareness and core strength

Confidence — the kind that comes from doing something you weren't sure you could

Teamwork — encouraging each other, sharing what works, celebrating progress together

NICAS Bouldering Award Scheme

We can offer optional enrolment in the NICAS Bouldering Award Scheme (Levels 1–3) — a nationally recognised climbing qualification for young people. It's a fantastic way to give your child tangible goals to work towards and recognised achievements to be proud of.

  • Completely optional — the club is brilliant with or without it
  • One-off NICAS registration fee: £10.00
  • Levels 1–3 covered within the club programme
